Dr. Yi joined Insight IP upon graduation from the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010. Due to his dual medical and scientific education, Dr. Yi specializes in technical procedures and research methodologies in the fields of biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, laboratory animal science and environmental science. Dr. Yi drafts and prosecutes patent applications in Chinese and English, performs prior art reference searches, and provides legal opinions on patent infringement and validity issues. Since 2016, Dr. Yi has been participating in a series of patent administrative litigations and civil litigations on behalf of a famous Korean group.
Dr. Yi has served internationally renowned clients, including universities in the U.S. and Hong Kong, a global commodity manufacturer, one of the largest U.S. hybrid seeds producers, a specialized healthcare division of a multinational food company, and a leading New Zealand multinational dairy company. Dr. Yi also has been providing professional services for domestic institutions and companies, including several authoritative hospitals, top-tier universities, and large-scaled and start-up biopharmaceutical companies.
During his graduate research from 2006 to 2010, Dr. Yi was focusing on the adverse effect of inhalable airborne particulate matters on human health. In 2009, Dr. Yi was an exchange student at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he participated in the proteomic study of the pathology of HIV.
